New Town double reception
A young family on a quiet New Town street needed one half of their double reception for play and the other for evening quiet. We kept original cornices visible, introduced washable seating, and used a low bookcase as a soft divide that still allows light to travel.
Northern windows received warm white walls and sage textiles so winter afternoons no longer felt stark. Package scope aligned with our family living scheme band.
Stockbridge kitchen garden room
An opened rear wall left cooking and lounge furniture competing for the same path. Zoning with a breakfast bar and a defined rug island restored order while preserving views to the small garden.
Homework settled at a wall desk under a shaded lamp; boots gained a bench by the garden door. The household reports fewer collisions at breakfast.
Marchmont tenement hallway
A narrow hall stacked with coats greeted every visitor. Hooks at two heights, a slim cupboard, and a runner with durable underlay reclaimed walking space for a pram and for neighbours sharing the stair.
A single mirror opposite the door lifted what little daylight entered from the close. The living room beyond now feels intentionally reached rather than stumbled into.
Inverleith textile wintering
Clients near Inverleith Park asked for a textile-only refresh before a hard winter. Curtains gained thermal lining, rugs thickened under the main seating group, and throws rotated from linen to wool blends in stone and soft sage.
Nothing structural changed; the rooms simply held heat and sound better through the darkest months.
Dean Village seasonal swap plan
A riverside flat struggled with Festival guests and then with empty, cold rooms in November. We wrote a labelled seasonal plan: summer sheers and spare bedding, winter cushions and earlier curtain close times.
Two visits a year now keep the home feeling right without buying new sofas each time the weather shifts.
